Sharing of the Healers / Re: Kambo and Diabetes
« on: August 20, 2013, 06:46:25 AM »
Frankly I’m a little surprised to see such a question here from a ‘practitioner’. This is a forum for sharing ‘ideas’ not a teaching platform. No credible practitioner would either ask this or answer this or follow advice given here.

This is a potentially unsafe situation that would usually be discussed with a teacher or mentor. If you need to post here then probably you don’t have one of these so I’d guess you are not a trained practitioner and if you don’t know what to do, clearly you shouldn’t be doing it.

There are several practitioners already working outside the traditional rainforest environment and we already share experience and advise each other but we do not give advice to untrained people on how to use Kambo on other people especially people with serious health issues and especially not on online public forums.

Apologies if this sounds harsh but it’s dangerous and irresponsible. If an accident were to occur, the authorities would easily find their way back to the advising practitioner and they would be held responsible. Whilst I’m happy to take responsibility for my own work and even for my students work, I would not be prepared to take responsibility for the work of an untrained person – please think about what you’re doing – no one should die from Kambo but it will happen soon enough if people don’t treat this medicine with more respect.

I’m pleased to see that your post has gone unanswered – and for a good reason.

SuperKambo - if you private message me I may be able to help you . I treat a lot of people with CFS.

3x3 - I would not recommend it for you yet. I've done lots and most people get through in 3-4 hours although the occasional one doesn't get past 2. Most are tired for few days afterwards too.

My personal favourite is 3 treatments in 2 hours - I think most people would be knocked out after it but I find it totally invigorating - its like flying afterwards - I love it!! Experienced users only though - You should try it Kampum - 15 or so points to start is enough. I actually think its easier just to go from one to the next immediately after the purge and a short rest to drink more water than to stretch it out over 3-4 hours.

Introductions / Re: Is Kambo Legal in the US?
« on: August 20, 2013, 06:26:41 AM »
For sure Kampum, not my style either - the indigenous have a more casual approach sometimes - they often leave someone after just a few minutes - I have experienced this myself with different tribes too. It can be a bit scary especially at the beginning. Now its fine though but you're right - I never leave someone until they are through and resting. In circles, everyone rests and then we eat together afterwards so I always know that everyone is fine before they leave.

As for my young man who had a massive reaction... he had zero pre-existing health problems - I always check!
He presented as a picture of health. Aged 28, tall, athletic and never had any health problems ever. He works out regular, eats well, doesn't smoke and had no allergies. He had come to Kambo out of curiosity and more to accompany his girlfriend than any personal pressing reason. For some reason my intuition went into overdrive and I got a message to go slowly with him. I put on one point to test his sensitivity and within less than 30 seconds, his throat swelled completely closed.  He was basically suffocating - it was pretty dramatic! I removed the point and washed the area with water and administered basic first aid (something all practitioners should know) and used a special 'opening the throat'  breathing technique to keep him breathing until it wore off.

Not typical but it just goes to show how careful you need to be.

You're right Kampum, no one should die from Kambo. I really would like to know more about the lady in Costa Rica - what was her per-existing health status and did she die from?

I say this over and over again......but if this could happen to a very experienced practitioner than imagine what could happen to the people that I come across on a regular basis who think that being a Kambo practitioner is nothing more than burning a few points and slapping Kambo on them. Frankly, I'm getting a little fed up with people writing to me on facebook etc asking me how to treat people with very serious health conditions only to tell me when I enquire about their experience of working with Kambo that they have none - they just do it to help their friends! This is what we must discourage - do not give your friends Kambo or anyone else unless you know what you're doing and you know what to do if something goes wrong.

When someone dies at the hands of one of these so called Kambo practitioners in the US or Europe - we may see a situation where Kambo takes the blame and people seek to ban it. Do it to yourself - fine but not anyone else - leave that to trained people.

I think we sometimes forget that we're working with a poison here. I had a recent client (healthy, young, male)at a circle who had a massive reaction to his first point - so much so that I had to take very fast action to keep him breathing. Imagine if someone had stuck several points on him and not known what to do? He would have died for sure! This is only the second person I have seen react in over 900 that I have treated but it happens!

Let's keep it safe and legal!

Precautions / Re: Fainting
« on: August 19, 2013, 11:48:03 AM »
I think fainting is just blood pressure - I've always let people faint - usually when they're on the floor, their blood pressure rises and they come round. Most people are not even aware that they fainted and many say that they didn't - that they could hear everything going on around them.

The only time I rouse people is if I think they're going past the window of opportunity for purging - then I'll get them to sit up and purge - palo santo, rape', rattle work, warm water - whatever it takes!

Never come across Kambo in Iquitos. Adrian is in Pisac and there is also a Polish woman working out of Pisac and Puerto Maldonado called Aleksandra.

Thank you Kampum! US peeps should definately seek you out! I haven't heard of anyone else in the US working the way you are.

I'm doing a lot of work here at the moment and people are coming back for more 95% of the time. Its an amazing process we're going through - building awareness and opening hearts and minds alike!

By the way, I also offer the 'mating' but only in Brazil, Portugal and Italy because of the legal stuff.

Viva Kambo!

Katukina / Re: How do the Katukina do so many dots?
« on: June 11, 2013, 04:49:18 AM »
Firstly, is important to note that dots can mean different things depending on the size. people often say ..."I had 10 dots" but that actually means very little - it depends on the size of the dots! You can have 10 small dots - like Giovannis thin incense sticks or you can have 10 large dots - which will be three to four times the size! It also depends how well you load the dots too and how close to the heart you place them. We need to be more specific when discussing this i think.

The katukina use medium sized dots but they have been usung kambo since they were children so they've built up their strength with it. If you take 1 or 2 more dots each time, this can happen slowly over a period of 20-30 years. More kambo = more strength and more strength = more kambo! I take around 36 medium sized dots in a session now, spread across my feet, lower legs upper arms and back. You have to go through death's door sometimes!!

Kambo should not be used by pregnant women. It contains a powerful vasodilator which could cause spontaneous abortion. Kambo has been used by some tribes to bring on abortion in unwanted pregnancies so we know that this is the case. It also shouldn't be taken by breastfeeding mothers until the child is eating a good amount of solids as it can reduce the milk flow too.

Mothers that have a good immune system prior to pregnancy will pass their immunity onto their children and then the children start having their own kambo around 2 years old in the katukina at least.

Hi both

I'm not putting them in the same category. Hip is correct in that i'm simply saying that I want to track these conditions because they are the top three that I come across in my work. I always ask questions about duration and symptoms to try and establish exactly what is happening to someone.

Prior to kambo, I spent half my life working in mental health so I know only too well the difference between depression as a diagnosable condition and depression that comes from dealing with chronic pain on a daily basis. Even depression itself can be categorised in many different ways.

You're quite right that they are not in the same category - maybe I wasn't clear enough.

I always try to differentiate between true CFS and post viral fatigue and the many other causes of fatigue like stress etc and I use  6 -9 months plus as a marker of this.

Anyhow, I appreciate you pulling me up on this guys. The more info I have, the better I can work, so thanks!

Apologies to have taken so long to respond - travelling and working and little time for internet these days so please bear with me.

Yes, I wanna see that too!!

kambo is 100% legal everywhere in the world. The only legislation that has ever been put in place ironically is in brazil. Its not a law but its a resolution that is little enforced. It says only that the advertising, marketing and transportation of kambo is forbidden. the reason that was given for this was to 'combat biopiracy' and not for any other reason. Its still completely legal to take kambo there.

43
You're right Hip so I've started asking people with CFS, ME or Depression to fill in a questionnaire every three months for me. I'm gonna focus on those for the moment as they're the most common issues that I come across and I seriously don't have the time to do more yet.

Thank you for showing me the way on this one.

44
Yes, I'm sure here will be variation in response to some degree because everyone is starting from a different place but kambo is not a 'normal' treatment protocol. Its not a combination of interventions, its an holistic treatment that is pretty miraculous in my view and very few people will have a mediocre response to it if it is properly administered. You are right that peoples response to kambo is uncommon but that's because its unique in its make up and its healing power. There is no other treatment like it.

This is just my experience of it and of course, I grant you that we are not talking abot thousands of people going through a clinical trial. I'm planning to start properly collating all these outcomes and have been asking people to keep records so that I can compile some facts and figures on this but like everything it takes time.

45
Yes, you may be right about why Kambo makes CFS patients worse but then you need to add into that paradigm the fact that Kambo actually increases energy levels fairly fast in most people. I don't know the answer to this one. It's my intention, when I get time and some technical help to put together an anonymous online system for recording outcomes for Kambo users so maybe we will be able to see clearer patterns emerging in the future.

Thanks for the info about measurement scales. These are really usefull. I think its difficult to say how many steps a person would improve as a general statement because everyone is individual and responds differently but I would want to see someone that I was treating move 4-6 steps up your scale over the period of a year. I've certainly seen that in a few cases. Certainly there will be some corelation between where you start and how far you can go in that timeframe.  And, this is a long term thing. If you are at the top end of the scale you need to be prepared to commit to a year or even more of treatment before you can settle into a routine 2-3 monthly treatment.  You also need to be aware of what you're doing in terms of how much, how often and where you place it. These can all make a huge difference, as can the level of drive and desire to recover. This is something that I look at with the person and we put together a treatment protocol that they can go on with in my absence.  In this situation, I like to do the first 3-4 treatments and then, where appropriate, teach self application so that the person takes over responsibility for their own treatment but uses the plan that we have agreed. I then follow up with them and we make whatever adjustments we need to along the way. I work like this because I'm usually not in one location for more than a few months at a time and the cost is prohibitive for most people anyway.
