Acupuncture & Acupressure / Re: Locating Meridians
« on: August 09, 2012, 08:09:04 AM »
Can anyone point me to a primer on how kambo relates to meridians. I recently started going to an acupuncturist so I'm pretty fascinated by how it might relate to kambo.

I'll be on my own so I'll have to apply it myself. I'll be doing it next week so I don't have all the details down yet. I haven't read about how to apply it (i.e. how many dots and what part of the body). I also noticed you mention meridians a few times, I need to learn about all that too.

General Discussion / Re: Does kambo contain an opiate?
« on: August 08, 2012, 09:34:23 PM »
Yeah. It contains dermorphin which is a mu opioid agonist around 4000 times as potent as morphine. It also contains dermorphin, one of the most selective and potent delta opioid receptor agonists known to man. Selective mu and kappa opioid agonists have been known for a long time but selective delta agonists are relatively new. I think the first one discovered was dermorphin. Now they have plenty of synthetic ones. Interestingly, it inhibits the respiratory depressant effects of mu opioid agonists so they could be added to opioid analgesic preparations to make safer opioid drugs. When people die of opioid overdoses, its due to hypoxia (since they stop breathing).

General Discussion / Re: any kambo contraindications?

Do people with anxiety have any issues if they take kambo? Right now I'm having minor benzo withdrawals and I get these bouts of aggitation and anxiety every now and again but opioids seem to amplify these symptoms 10 fold. It happens a few hours after the opioids kick in. Opioids inhibit the release of GABA so my theory is that its the lack of GABA that causes it. I don't know how the kambo will interact with these mild withdrawal symptoms. They are pretty mild though so I'm fairly sure it won't kill me so I'll try it and report back here. I couldn't find any info on using kambo for benzo PAWS so I'm assuming few people have tried it yet.

I am a full on visual thinker and do not even have an internal dialogue, meaning I don't speak inside my head unless I'm rehearsing something I'm about to say. For example I rapidly sound out these words in my head right before I type them but when I'm just thinking and not communicating with anyone, I think in pictures supplemented by the other 5 senses (i.e. I use tactile sense to think about things like pressure or I'll use auditory sense to think about sounds). Right now I have atypical depression which manifests as drowsiness/lethargy as well as other things like physical and emotional numbness. How I'd naturally state my intention is to picture myself the way I want to be (having lots of energy and feeling good etc.). Is this a valid way to state my intention or do I have to word it out? The problem with wording it out is I need loads of words if I'm going to describe every part of my intention whereas with the mental image I can do it in a single thought that takes about a second to think.

Precautions / Getting home afterwards
« on: August 08, 2012, 06:41:48 PM »
For my first time, I'm planning on doing it in a secluded spot which is a 60 minute walk down a rocky beach. The reason this stretch of beach is so isolated is because every square inch of it is covered in rocks making it tricky to walk on. Will I have the energy to make it home after the experience? I can lay in the grass for an hour or so to regain my energy if I need to. I hear that one becomes very clear minded and energetic as a result of the experience but I don't know if this is directly after the experience or in the days that follow or what.
