Title: Preperations and Questions for Kambo
Post by: FairlyFreeSpirit on October 23, 2012, 06:13:27 PM
I received my Kambo today, I am very excited.
I have been reading this forum and I am still unsure on a few things.
I read to widdle bamboo skewers down to 2-3 times the size a stick of nag-champa, does this mean the fragrant end or wooden end( I am assuming wooden ).
I will start with one dot for an allergy test, and after a short while, I am not sure if I should take 3,5, or 7 dots.
I also received some nu-nu. Is it best to use nu-nu before? after? or both?
How much nu-nu do people normally use? I read to not let it drain but to blow it back out of the nostrils when effects are achieved.
I have decided to do an allergy test this weekend (my birthday) and if it goes O.K. I might go on and apply some burns and medicine. I have been told that it is best to do it on the new moon, this weekend is a full moon.

Again thanks so much for being here to help.

Alright, I am far from experienced with all of these topics, but I think I can answser your questions.

1.  wooden end
2.  5 dots would be my recommendation
3.  nu-nu before, after, before and after....whatever you want
4.  amount?  not sure, but I don't remember any drain....that stuff went straight to my brain and there was nothing left over.

KP can clarify the nu-nu points for you.

GOOD LUCK!

I actually have no experience with Nu Nu.  Soon for now I use another snuff from the Yawanawa called Rape'.  I use it directly before and right after I do the burns.  To produce a good head space as well as getting me ready to purge.  Kambo is so used to me by now and has cleared me so intensely that I must do everything to prepare my body to purge as possible.

Soon I'll study Nu Nu but for now and who knows for how long Rape' snuff is such a deep study of a medicine.

Lightswichedon is humble and always on point so not much more for me to add.

Caiano likely can clarify the Nu Nu.

I use Nu-nu like i would use Rapè; they could be considered the same thing. The rule here is : keep it simple.
Try to break down eventual clusters before sniffing. It seems the Nu-nu sold 'from Europe' - at least some batches - is not well pulverized: it should be a more tiny dust like talc ( said to me an expert : a colombian Taita).

How much Nu-nu ? Well, start with a few amount and discover yourself your preference. The minimum right amount is when your neck is punched from inside ;-)
You can safely overdo, but then the limit is given by keeping the determination to shot also the other nostril: if you use too much, the pain in the neck erodes your courage to confront with the second shot ...

Nag-champa fragrant end ! that means to have a burn with a diameter of a couple millimetres, at least.

3 points for me is the lower dose you should apply.

Thanks, I feel much more ready for this weekend, it feels right to me so I will go for it. One dot for a simple allergy test, to continue with 3-5, I will have to meditate on that longer. This nu-nu is a very fine powder. Much appreciation to you all.

Lastly one more question. How long should I leave the sapo on the wounds?

Lastly one more question. How long should I leave the sapo on the wounds?

Does the size of the globule matter?

Ok i see edit: a little larger than the size of a match head.

Why it would matter ?

I wasn't sure if the size would effect the dose. I suppose it is just the size of the burn thats important for dose.

when  the effects are over, the size does not matter anymore.

So I drank plenty of water, 3 litres yesterday and 2 today. Fasted 15 hours and applied the Sapo this morning. I burned 3 dots on my left shoulder, scraped the Kambo stick with a few deops of water until I had 3 globs. I had my girlfiend apply first one dot, I felt it almost instantly, and was a bit nervous but after a moment asked her to go ahead with the others. Now I could feel my stomach rumbling, face swelling red, my arm was sore tingling and the burns looked/felt like wasp stings. I purged from the back but did not vommit so I made a couple more burns and moved some venom to them, I think this only more or less prolonged the ordeal as it started effecting me in waves at this point, all in all after 30-40 minutes I felt normal except my arm was still sore, my girlfriend asked that I wait until tomorrow to apply again, so I will do 4 bigger dots, apply them as quickly as I can, I think this will hit me stronger than the 5 slightly spaced apart.

I do feel pretty sharp, not tired at all, which is unusual for a Sat. morning.

My shaman from Brazil says in joke that Rape or Nu-nu is an anaesthetist. Dr.Kambo and anaesthetist Rapé.

That is a joke too bad it isn't true.  I use it mainly to prepare the body for purging but it has never really helped me with the pain.  I sure like the analogy.  I find that the only thing that has ever mitigated the pain is taking a small amount of Iboga (500-850mg for me) about 3-5 hrs before the Kambo.  Then it seems to shoot the surgery up to my third eye rather than where the pain usually occurs for me which is in the gut (true brain).

Rape(Pau pereira) it helps in almost all cases during Kambo when people don't start purging and after the blow they release it out. For the pain it don't help.

OK I agree on that.  A few times it didn't work and I had to add more dots to the patients.  I call it Ruma like the Yawanawa do because to me it is the essence of God.

Hey guys, I found this thread and thought that maybe you could help. We are a group of researchers (affiliations can be found through the link) who want to research the effects of kambô!

In this first larger online survey on kambô, we question people that have experienced kambô. We ask questions about kambô motivations as well as about the acute and longer-term effects of kambô experiences. The aim of the study is to better understand subjective motivation and effects, as well as benefits and risks of a kambô-treatment.

Your help would be of great relevance and would greatly enhance the quality of our strictly academic work. Our survey is completely anonymous and only serves research purposes.
