Diet before and after / Re: Fasting beforehand isn't necessary
« on: August 17, 2013, 02:10:25 PM »
The past couple of times I applied to myself, I purged too soon, before all the bile and toxins had been released so I continued to vomit despite there being little or no liquid in my stomach which was unpleasant. In cases like that, you can just drink more water. Some people say that purging isn't necessary. That doesn't make any sense to me, I feel terrible before purging which would indicate that its the toxins released by the kambo that causes me to feel bad.

As for fasting, its necessary for the healing effects in my experience. Not just before, but I've come to the realisation that you need to fast afterwards, otherwise the symptom relief seems to come to an end. Namely, I've experienced lethargy coming back when I ate food within an hour after recovering from a kambo ceremony, whereas if I don't eat, I will be free of lethargy for the rest of the day. I see it as allowing the body to dedicate all its faculties to the healing process triggered by the kambo, whereas eating forces the body to dedicate some of these faculties to the digestion and metabolism of the food. Maybe its only certain types of food that should be avoided after the ceremony, such as foods that are difficult to digest or metabolise.

Acupuncture & Acupressure / Re: Is there any way to see meridians?

As I said before, your knowledge amazes me. I've tried looking into some of the things you've said to gain a better understanding, and can't seem to find additional information on the internet. Thanks for sharing.

Acupuncture & Acupressure / Is there any way to see meridians?
« on: August 13, 2013, 11:48:02 AM »
I'm wondering if there are any methods which enable one to actually see meridians. I know that some entheogens such as psilocybe mushrooms make one much more perceptive to natural phenomena that one may ordinarily be oblivious to, but I have never seen meridians or chakras in any state I have explored thus far.

Can you post the link to this herbsmax forum, and tell us more about these experimental vitamins? I also have some substance induced brain damage and am in real need of healing. In my case, the damage was caused by dopamine releasing substances so I believe the problem I have is damage to dopaminergic neurons, which is why I have some of the symptoms of Parkinsons disease.

None of you mention Palo Santo

Bringing out the Holy Wood (not to be confused with that other Sacred Wood - Tabernanthe Iboga) incense has an almost miraculous effect on the purge.  And how they moan, "take it away, take it away!"

. . its other great gift is that it cleanses any negativity hanging about that is released with the purge.
Thanks for sharing that. I burn Palo Santo every time I do a kambo ceremony, but when I'm outdoors the smoke rapidly dissipates and its difficult to keep it burning. I think burning powdered wood (as opposed to just a stick of wood like I usually do) on a charcoal tablet would work better for that purpose. Maybe burning it in a pipe and blowing it at the person (like they do with tobacco in ayahuasca ceremonies) would work, but one should be careful since I read that Palo Santo smoke contains some toxic compounds.

Really interesting thread, thanks to everyone who contributed. The activity of salvia is due primarily to it being a potent kappa agonist so its quite an interesting receptor. There is an analogue of salvinorin A called herkinorin which happens to have far greater affinity for mu receptors than salvinorin A. I would be very interested in its potential application as an anti addictive opioid for free people from addiction to mu agonists like heroin.

That makes sense caiano, I suppose that could be part of the reason why indigenous kambo healers end the ceremony with a swim.

not to take away from any work being done, or to be done, but i like to think of substances as training tools to help teach how to use the respective systems with ones intent, will, etc etc
Thats a cool way to think of it. I haven't figured out how to use my intent/will to replicate the effects of many substances though. I can enter a state similar to that induced by hapi and other dopamine releasing substances through meditation though, which is fairly interesting.

PAM and NAM are temporary as is ALMOST every substance related alteration i have found, even the ones that seem to be non temporary seem to have ways of showing the non permanence beneath all, transience takes all forms even permanence.
Thats how it goes. However, if a substance causes a new neural pathway to form, then it becomes natural to stimulate this neural pathway in ones every day state, this change will be permanent.

BTW lets not derail the thread into a discussion on taurine. Lets keep it focussed on NMDA antagonists in general, and related (in this context) classes of substances.

There is more to the anti addictive properties of NMDA antagonists than NMDA antagonism itself. Further down the metabolic cascade is the release of nitric oxide (i.e. NMDA activation leads to the synthesis and subsequent release of more nitric oxide) and nitric oxide inhibitors like methylene blue have similar anti addictive properties. I wonder if there are any natural NO inhibiting substances known.

The Process / Skin turning orange
« on: August 10, 2013, 12:54:33 PM »
Twice now when I applied kambo to a particular area (I reused the same burn locations the second time), my arms turned orange. It was accompanied by a tingling, numbness feeling. Last time, I got a bit scared because the tingling was intense, but it wore off after a few minutes. This is a new effect for me, I haven't experienced this before. I'm wondering if this particular effect was caused by the area I applied the kambo. Has anyone here experienced orange skin before? This happens to me when its cold out, sometimes I'll get orange patches on my hands, but on kambo my whole hands turned orange.

A person who I applied kambo to recently, expressed his concern that nature spirits in specific areas which happen to be very pure, don't take kindly to people tainting the energy in the area with negativity. So we're thinking that there must be places where the panema can be readily dissipated in such a way that it won't disturb any nature spirits inhabiting the area. What kind of places do indigenous people who work with kambo (i.e. the Katukina) select for kambo ceremonies geared towards releasing panema?

General Discussion / Re: Physical differences after doing kambo

Interesting you say "energetic glow", because two people have said "you're shining today" after I did a kambo ceremony on two separate occasions.

I think the place to start would be to talk to lawyers and other people who work in the legal system about this. I'm a chemist myself, so this isn't an area I'm knowledgeable in unfortunately. I know of a lawyer who is a strong advocate of ayahuasca, I will see if I can get in contact with him.

Can you elaborate on your OP peacefull warrior? I study a fair bit of pharmacology (I'm a chemistry major) so I find it very interesting. The (majority at least) people on this forum are people with the sole intent to heal themselves and others, so if they are not the right people to share with, I don't know who is. Sharing information in order to empower each other with knowledge is what this forum is all about. When I'm talking to people who are in seek of new methods of healing themselves and others, I inform them in any way I can, because knowledge is power, and the knowledge you have, might give another person the power to heal themselves and their fellow man.

I have quite a bit of knowledge concerning the glutamatergic system and over the past few months have been attempting to develop methods to utilise the connection between glutamate receptors and synaptic plasticity to direct the process of neuroplasticity, which is something that could help alleviate a great amount of suffering in this world. I'm sure I will be able to contribute knowledge to this thread, if you elaborate on what it is about. Remember, NMDA isn't the only glutamate receptor. Great things are being accomplished via the development of allosteric modulators for the AMPA receptor.

Kambo for Restoring Innate and Dormant Instincts / Re: Dreaming
« on: August 02, 2013, 11:54:46 AM »
When you wake up, the trick is to lay there without moving a muscle, then you go directly into a lucid dream. I used to lucid dream almost every night, now I barely do it once a week. I used to get sleep paralysis a lot, from sleep paralysis I can go directly into a lucid dream.

Thanks Kampum. I tried using Tsune based Hop-A just after applying kambo, and noticed I had a more intense need to purge than usual. It also made the process more pleasant.

I noticed Giovanni rushes the purge too. Its a bad idea in my opinion, because it takes some time for the toxins to be released into the stomach and intestines, so if you purge before that happens, you'll have trouble getting it all out. I'll ask him about this at some point.
