Kambo: leaving it's mark
« on: December 08, 2012, 04:34:16 AM »
Does anyone know what kinds of powder is used in scarification. Where the lacerations are made on the skin and then powder is rubbed in to help the scarring process remain permanent? I figure this could be used on kambo burns to keep them from fading. I would possibly like to do this.

I like this idea, but have no reference for this or that it was even done by peoples.  Good to hear people that like their scars!  It's something I'm very proud of in a none ego sort of way.  In many ways it marks my healing process.

Packing

This method is uncommon in the West, but has traditionally been used in Africa. A cut is made diagonally and an inert material such as clay or ash is packed into the wound; massive hypertrophic scars are formed during healing as the wound pushes out the substance that had been inserted into the wound. Cigar ash is used in the United States for more raised and purple scars; people may also use ashes of deceased persons

From Wikipedia's Scarification page.

But I don't want raised scars and I guess that's what it is used for.
